Replacing iPhone Back Glass With Plastic?

In our latest video, we modded an iPhone 14 Pro by replacing the back glass with carbon fibre using PCBWay's services. If you own an iPhone 14 Pro, you can easily replicate this mod using the links provided below to order the carbon fiber backplate and camera bump replacements from PCBWay.

For the LiDAR scanner hole, we 3D printed it using clear UV-curable resin. If you have access to a 3D printer, you can download the file and print it yourself, or you can upload the file to PCBWay to have them print it for you.

If you want to try this on other iPhone models but want the phone to look original, you can buy a dummy phone and use its back plastic. This method retains the Apple logo and looks very similar to the original. Keep in mind, for LiDAR models, you may need to cut your own LiDAR hole in the plastic.

Note: For iPhone 14, 14 Plus, 15, and newer models, this carbon fiber mod isn’t necessary, as the back glass is easier to replace.

Why make this change? I’ve broken my back glass multiple times, and removing it is a painful process. Glass is prone to shattering, so switching to carbon fiber made sense for durability. As for water resistance, it depends on how well you apply the glue. While it can be made water-resistant, I don’t plan on submerging my phone. Plus, I think the carbon fiber looks even better!
